A February to-do list for your exteriors

February is here and while we may all still be spending more time indoors (especially with the colder weather), the warmer days will be here shortly so it’s best to be prepared before then. If you have a free weekend coming up with fair weather, we suggest giving the following home improvements a try— your home will feel instantly revived and your exteriors will be in a much better place when you’re ready to enjoy the outdoors! Read on to discover our February to-do list for your exteriors.

Clean your entryway

Your front door and surrounding area have to deal with a lot over the winter months—the harsher weather can lead to an accumulation of dirt and grime, and Christmas decorations may have also left their mark. Your entryway is one of the first things people notice about your house so it’s vital that it makes a great impression. In addition to cleaning the entryway area, we also suggest that you consider giving your door a fresh coat of paint.

Clean windows around the house

Windows should be regularly cleaned to help them look great and stay great for longer. Our PVC-u cleaner is an excellent option for rejuvenating PVC-u windows around the home. The heavy duty PVC-u cleaner removes grime easily for a renewed shine on your PVC-u surfaces.   Spray onto surface from approximately 20 – 25 cm.  Leave for 30 seconds before rinsing and wiping clean with a cloth.

Collect tree branches around the garden

The wind, rain and snow of the winter months often blows branches, etc, around the garden and these not only look messy but can actually damage the grass and plants underneath if they’re left to sit for too long. In addition to this task, be sure that no tree branches are precariously placed in case they fall and cause damage to your home. If a large tree is branch is in a position to fall on your home it could break your window or rupture your roof and walls.

Check your roof and walls for cracks and holes

Again, the winter weather can wreak havoc on your exteriors and small cracks and holes can turn into much larger problems if they’re not treated in a timely manner. Be sure to properly repair any of these damages as soon as possible. Our Ready Mixed Masonry Filler is ideal for the job, easy to use and ideal for outdoor repairs to brick, render, stone and most other building materials prior to painting. Apply directly from the tub using a spreader, or knife. Dries in 1 hour.  For deeper cavities apply in layers of approximately 9mm.

Plan your spring/summer garden

Now is the ideal time to start thinking about what you’d like to do in your garden during the spring and summer months. What flowers would you like to plant? The time you plant and what conditions you need will depend on the flowers you choose so do your research so you don’t overlook anything!
